Scapolite_(var_Meionite)_more_fluorescent_spot.jpg (45120 bytes)

This is Scapolite, a variation of Meionite. The image has been stretched to brighten it, the pure color spots are from saturation in the individual color images. The surface has smooth planes that act like mirrors to reflect the lamps back into the lens, causing overexposure.  The sample is placed on a black anodized aluminum plate. The illumination was by the red, green, and blue LEDs in the optical head.  This image is a composition from 3 monochrome images. The individual images are shown in thumbnail below. Clicking on a color name will take you to a full size view. The UV image some faint fluorescence.
