Mission Statement

The Kuiper Circle Board of Advisors shall provide a core group of individuals from the community dedicated to assisting the University of Arizona's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory to achieve the ultimate in its research and exploration goals and to maintain its pre-eminence as the leading planetary research institution in the U.S.

It shall be a challenge and ingenuity of this Board to provide the necessary resources towards realizing these goals in the form of:

  • people with recognized expertise and skills
  • organizations with vested interest in exploring the solar system
  • a plan to establish and sustain existing and future facilities
  • a means to provide a supplementary financial base in support of these endeavors


Long Range Planning Committee

The mission of the Kuiper Circle Long Range Planning Committee remains to be defined.

Development Committee

The mission of the Kuiper Circle Development Committee remains to be defined.

Industrial Liaison Committee

The mission of the Kuiper Circle Industrial Liaison Committee remains to be defined.

Community Outreach

The mission of the Kuiper Circle Community Outreach Committee is to help provide public visibility into the ongoing scientific programs and research activities of the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. The committee helps coordinate, develop, and promote formal and informal educational and community involvement activities that focus on astronomy/planetary science, space exploration and the associated mathematics, physics, engineering and related sciences.

University/Government/Research Liaison Committee

The mission of the Kuiper Circle University/Government/Research Liaison Committee remains to be define.
