A Tour of LPL
The Main Building - Kuiper Space Sciences

The Kuiper Space Sciences building is located on the eastern end of the main campus of the University of Arizona, near the corner of University Blvd. and Cherry Ave.

The atrium of the Space Sciences building is located on the 3rd floor, and is the heart of the building. Various public outreach events typically take place in this area, and displays highlighting recent images and discoveries from LPL-involved missions or other solar system news are always on display.

The main lecture hall. Most undergraduate classes are held here, as well as colloquia and journal club presentations.

The secondary lecture hall. Somewhat smaller, it's where most of the graduate classes are held.

From the atrium at the north side of the building, one can enter the hallway of graduate offices, or the "grad hall". Its walls have been decorated through the years with the quote board, memorabilia from grad skits, and other funny and irreverant material.

Typical graduate student offices in the grad hallway. Most offices have space for 3 students and have ample space for a desk, bookshelves, and filing cabinets for each student.

The library at LPL contains various planetary science, astronomy, and other texts, as well as reference materials and journals. Very useful to see if the book you need is here before venturing out to either the Main Library or the Science/Engineering Library.
The Sonnett Space Sciences Building

In 2005, LPL expanded into the ex-Student Health Center at the corner of University and Cherry, and renamed the building in honor of Chuck Sonnett. The building is currently home to the
Planetary Image Research Laboratory and support staff for the
HiRise camera in orbit onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
The Phoenix Building

The Phoenix Building is located off-campus about a mile or two from campus. It houses support for the LPL-led
Phoenix Mission.
