July 31, 2007: Traveling email users: If you cannot send mail, use port 587 for outgoing mail.

Some innkeepers and internet service providers prevent you from sending mail from your laptop, by blocking traffic on port 25. If you encounter this problem, you can configure your email client program to use port 587 for outgoing mail (instead of the default port 25). This often fixes the problem.

Feb 13, 2007: Windows Sophos Anti-Virus Users: Upgrade to Sophos 6!

A new version of Sophos for Windows (Sophos 6) is available. As of March, 2007, Sophos 4 will no longer be updated by Sophos Remote Update. Users must upgrade to Sophos 6.

Nov 28, 2006: Windows XP Users: Internet Explorer 7

Microsoft has released an automatic update for Windows XP called Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7). This update includes considerable changes that could cause issues. To enable you to decide when to allow Windows Update to install IE 7 on your PC, Microsoft has released the IE 7 blocking tool. LPL Systems is providing IntelliAdmin's easy-to-use version of this tool.

June 17, 2003: LPL mail users: Make your email client secure!

An authentication feature called SMTP AUTH has been implemented on the main LPL mail server (hindmost).
LPL mail (hindmost) users: click the above link to learn how to configure your email client to use SMTP AUTH.
and PIRL (pirlmail) mail users can ignore this, as SMTP AUTH is available only on the main LPL mail server.
