You will see a "Connect Dial-up Connection" window.
- In the "User name" field, type your LPL username.
- In the "Dial" field, type 618-3190.
- Click Properties.
- On the General tab page, the "Phone number" field should say 618-3190.
- Click the Security tab.
- Check the box next to "Show terminal window".
- Check the box next to "Run script:".
- In the "Run script:" window, type C:\lplslirp.scp .
- Click the Networking tab.
- "PPP: Windows..." should be showing in the "Type of dial-up server" window.
- Click Settings just below that window.
- The boxes next to "Enable LCP extensions", "Enable software compression", and "Negotiate multi-link for single link connections" should be checked.
- Click OK.
- In the "Components checked are used by this connection" window, the box next to "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" should be checked.
- Highlight the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" row and click Properties.
- Click the radio button next to "Use the following IP address:".
- In the "IP address" field, enter 10.0.2.15 .
- Click the radio button next to "Use the following DNS server addresses:".
- In the DNS server fields, enter 128.196.11.234 and 128.196.11.235 .
- Click Advanced.
- In the General tab page, the boxes next to "Use default gateway on remote network"
and "Use IP header compression" should be checked.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- Close the "Connect Dial-up Connection" window by clicking the little X in its upper right corner.
- Right-click on the new LPL icon in the "Network and Dial-up Connections window".
- Click "Create Shortcut" and click "Yes" to have the shortcut placed on the desktop.
- Close the "Network and Dial-up Connections" window.
To use your new connection dial-up the UA Modem Bank, connect to an LPL server, start a SLirP connection, and access the internet:
- Double-click on the new "Shortcut to LPL" icon on your desktop.
- In the "Password:" window, type your LPL password.
- Click Dial.
- Your modem will dial the UA Modem bank. You will then see an After Dial window, in which the lplslirp.scp script commands will run, connecting to an LPL server and starting
a SLirP connection for your PC.
- Start Netscape, Internet Explorer, Secure Shell, etc. to use the internet.
- Please remember to disconnect when you are done, to free LPL server resources.
To disconnect, right-click on the LPL dial-up icon in your system tray (lower right corner of your screen) or on the LPL dial-up icon on your desktop, and click Disconnect.
