How to Install WebMail Certificate - Windows IE 5.x/6.x



If you are using Internet Explorer 5.x/6.x on Windows, the following certificate sequence will be encountered the first time you access LPL WebMail with a particular browser. This must be performed only once for a given browser. Mac users, please use Netscape or Mozilla, as Mac IE cannot import the certificate.

In the following, examples of screen text you can expect to see are in black bold type.
Actions you are to perform for each screen are in blue italics.


START OF SAMPLE INTERACTION


You are about to view pages over a secure connection.

Click "OK".

Information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed or changed by others. However, there is a problem with the site's security certificate. The security certificate was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust. View the certificate... Do you want to proceed?

Click "View Certificate".

This CA Root Certificate is not trusted. To enable trust, install this certificate into the Trusted Root CA store.

Click "Install Certificate".

Welcome to the Certificate Manager Import Wizard

Click "Next".

Select a Certificate Store

Take the default setting and click "Next".

Completing the Certificate Manager Import Wizard

Click "Finish".

Do you want to ADD the following certificate to the Root Store?

Click "Yes".

The import was successful.

Click "OK".

The prior Certificate Wizard pop-up Will Resurface

Click "OK".

The prior Security Alert pop-up Will Resurface (Do you want to proceed?)

Click "Yes".

After this sequence, your IE 5.x/6.x browser will have imported the certificate.
The next time you connect to LPL WebMail using this browser on this computer,
you will not need to click through these screens.
