Dr. Hunten is interested in the atmospheres of all the planets and satellites: their composition, structure, chemistry, escape, and evolution.

He was an Interdisciplinary Scientist on the Pioneer Venus Missions and holds the same rank on Galileo; he is also involved in experiments on the Huygens Probe to Titan and the Planet-B Mars orbiter.

He is presently working on hydrocarbons in the jovian atmosphere and continues on the long-term study of Na in Mercury’s atmosphere.
