Mark Smith
Ph.D., 1982, University of Colorado Lunar and Planetary Lab University of Arizona Tucson AZ 85721 Old Chemistry 221C 520.621.5672 E-mail Smith Dr. Smith’s research interests surround the development of laboratory techniques for the experimental study of chemistry related to planetary atmospheres and the interstellar medium. His interests include the study of the development of a complex organic chemistry on Titan. Studies of aerosol haze generation and development of prebiological molecules in atmospheres and aqueous environments are explored using photochemical, plasma and mass spectrometric methods. He is also interested in the development of very low temperature ion trap instruments for the investigation of chemical development in interstellar clouds, comets and circumstellar atmospheres.
