The LPL Library was established by Gerard P. Kuiper in 1962 as a reading room and ready-reference collection serving the LPL faculty, staff, and graduate students. The library's interdisciplinary collection of books, journals, technical and observatory reports, preprints, planetary maps, audiovisual materials, and computer resources supports research and teaching in planetary science, primarily at the graduate level.
The library also has a large collection of topographic maps, chiefly of Arizona and the Southwest. The library, located in Room 409 of the Kuiper Space Sciences Building, is staffed M/W/F from 6:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., and members of the LPL community have 24-hour access to the collection. Undergraduate students, UA employees, and the public may use the materials in the library but do not have circulation privileges.
There is a small collection of books and journals located in Room 100 of the Sonett Building for the convenience of the faculty and staff of LPL-West. Please contact the librarian (621-2870) for access to this reading room and also to the special materials in the Regional Educator Resource Center and the collection of topographic maps.

Class Reserve Shelf: Class reserve materials are shelved in the reference area and are available for use in the Library or for overnight checkout.
