Status: Enemy (Deceased)
Reality: Aysle
Amethyst was, when alive, a powerful mage and a lieutenant of Uthorion. Originally simply a corrupt mage of Aysle, he helped Uthorion during his invasion of Aysle and stayed with him after he assumed the form of Pella Ardinay. He received the prophecy that 'His master's bane would be his own,' and that '[The bane's] would only fall by [her] own hand.'
Given that Uthorion/Ardinay had received a prophecy that 'The greatest of those who fell will be your undoing,' and that Uthorion qualified as his master, Amethyst put the prophecies together and decided that one of the defenders of Aysle would somehow return from the grave and destroy both him and Uthorion. He then came up with the idea that perhaps if the bodies of the greatest dead heroes were animated as zombies, perhaps that would qualify as falling by their own hand. [That is, the spirit of the returned hero would be bested by their own reanimated body.]
Accordingly, the greatest of the dead heroes were turned into Spectral Knights, and Amethyst took the Knight that had once been Isa of House Tharend for his personal guard; the others were doled out among the other lieutenants. Amethyst also set a number of traps, each of which were harmless unless the person inside took action to escape...again, this was planned to fulfill the falling by their own actions prophecy.
When the invasion of Earth commenced, Amethyst was placed in charge of the British Isles. He did very well, and was probably the most-favored of the lieutenants of Uthorion. But when he stole the Possibility Chalice from Kent Edgeworth, he brought Fugitive Group C down upon himself, including the reincarnated Isa Tharend, who defeated her own animated corpse.
Pursuing Amethyst, the group caught him in the North Sea, and a battle was fought on his ship. In the end, Isa Tharend sacrificed herself, falling by her own hand, to destroy Amethyst. (She _was_ later reincarnated, though.) Amethyst was succeeded in his position by Edwyn Prestcote.
