JF8

Status: Enemy

Reality: Cyberpapacy

The group has never learned the true name of the agent known as JF8. He was first encountered as an old man, with an oversized hearing aid and an eyepatch, in the streets of abu-ben-Gharadiq, who offered to sell them information. In return for a fair some of gold, he told them a number of things that didn't help much. The group (Holmes, Isa, and Mike.) asked him to look over a notebook they had found, but he was unable to help.

Later, after defeating a couple of CyberKnights, they found photographs of themselves, and of their notebook. They realized that the only person who could have taken them was the old man, whom they identified from the materials they had found as JF8.

Tracking him to Atlanta, they encountered Gerard Etienne, who had been sent from Paris to find JF8 and keep an eye on him. They scurried around a while, trying to find him, but only got blackmailed over Mike's secret identity.

Eventually, they found him again, he having beaten them to the cave of the Destiny Map. There, they killed him, but Gerry took a chip that JF8 had been using.

Unknown to GE, JF8 was a very special agent...placed on a Spirit Chip, he used a variety of Cartagras to run particular missions. When Gerry put in the JF8 chip, JF8 convinced him that he was an agent of the Surete who was being forced to help the Church. When Gerry needed a cyberdoc, JF8 pointed him to one who was supposedly hostile to the Church, but was secretly in its pay.

JF8 then had the doc put a cortex bomb in Gerry's head, forcing him to obey JF8's orders, orders which nearly got the group killed. Finally, the group learned what had happened, and GE threw himself into a reality storm which transformed him to Aysle. He then invoked a storm on the Spirit Chip and transformed JF8, expelling him.

As the group learned much later, JF8 was transformed into a true spirit, with the ability to posess others. They encountered him several times before he was finally able to posess Sparks for long enough for Chrome to recognize him. In Sparks' body, he threatened to crash the blimp the group was flying in, but then Ta'eesh was able to evict him.

Later, he successfully entered LeMorte, but played it low-key, waiting for an opportunity to strike at GE. He never got the chance before he was expelled by Ambrose.
