Cyberpope Jean-Malreaux I

High Lord Of The Cyberpapacy

Status: Enemy (Deceased)

Reality: Cyberpapacy

Malreaux was the High Lord of the Cyberpapacy, and as such, effective ruler of France, most of Spains, and bits of a few other countries.

He is known to have been Pope on the world of Magna Verita for about a century, apparently not aging. Magna Verita was a low-tech world, as was France immediately after the invasion. But a bit into the invasion, something changed, and France and Magna Verita both became higher tech than even Core Earth.

As first Pope, then Cyberpope, Malreaux held all religious power; in the Cyberpapal reality, there is no other kind of authority. His rule was absolute, held in check by no law or rival.

He was a public High Lord, second only to Mobius in terms of being high-profile, holding regular broadcast masses. He was a bitter enemy of Pope John Paul II, and both excommunicated the other.

On Christmas Day, 1994, Fugitive Group C arrived in Avignon to save the city (and maybe the country) from a flawed Super Reality Bomb planted beneath the Palais des Papes. Malreaux attacked them, leading to a massive battle. In the battle, Cross transferred from Dominique to Malreaux. With the help of Fujiwara and the others of Fugitive Group C, Cross took temporary control of the CyberPope's body, only to have Ta'eesh stab it in the back, killing the CyberPope.
