Biography

Akehito Fujiwara was born in 1969 in Osaka, Japan. While his parents tried to groom him to follow his father's footsteps and be a salesman for the Kanawa Corporation , his grandfather sensed a different future for young Akehito and prevailed in getting him placed in the monastery of the Sons of The Wind on the island of Hokkaido at the age of 8. There he spent the next fifteen years becoming a martial arts whiz and sporadically following baseball in general and the Hanshin Tigers specifically.

In May 1993, as the invasion started, the monks of the monestary fell to arguing whether their place was fighting the invaders or continuing their studies. Fujiwara chose the former after a dream in which the world was consumed by fire while the monks practiced calligraphy.

Since joining up with Holmes, Isa, Black Lightning and GE in Atlanta, Fujiwara has been an integral part of Fugitive Group C, having the longest continuous history with the group. One factor of early importance was the discovery that Fujiwara was apparently an exact double of Mr. Tanaka, a high Kanawa executive.

A moment of particular importance to Fujiwara occurred when the group was seeking the Signal Fire, believed to be in the posession of Cardinal Focoult, on board the Orient Express. While searching the train, Fujiwara met Katrina Rostov, a blind Russian psychic woman. The two felt an immediate attraction which deepened very quickly into a romance. This relationship was to be quickly tested, when Katrina was kidnapped by the vampire Victor Kingman, but it survived and grew.

Fujiwara was then involved heavily in the group's extended adventures in CyberFrance. First, he rescued a small Japanese child from the Church Police who had just killed the child's parents. Finding a foster family for the child, he then took part in a raid on a CyberChurch concentration camp, freeing hundreds of Japanese who were being held on suspicion of collaboration with Nippon Tech.

At the culmination of that mission however, as the Cyberpapal space station Firmament was destroyed, the technodemon Thalchek was released from captivity. Thalchek went to seek out Katrina to gain revenge for her vital role in preventing Tharkold's invasion of Russia. Fujiwara took Fugitive Group C to find and stop Thalchek, drawing on the psychic bond that was forming between he and Katrina.

After Thalchek was destroyed, Katrina realized Fujiwara's psychic potential, training him in the use of telepathy. But it was his martial arts skills, not his new psychic powers, which would prove most useful during the adventure that led up to the destruction of Uthorion. In a duel fought in a Nile Empire blimp, Fujiwara bested the Insidious Wu Han, though Wu Han escaped.

After the defeat of Uthorion, Fujiwara was captured by his double, Mr. Tanaka. When Fugitive Group C came to rescue him, they 'rescued' Tanaka instead. Tanaka maneuvered the group into attacking an enemy of the Kanawa Corporation. Fortunately, Fujiwara escaped and caught up with the group before irreparable damage could be done. After an extended duel, he bested Tanaka, who fled.

Later, Fujiwara's interest in baseball proved an unlikely critical factor in one of the group's greatest successes to date. From anomalies in the regular season, he deduced that the Boston Red Sox had been given cyberware and were using it to win the pennant and then the World Series. Interceding in game two of the series, Fugitive Group C unmasked the cybernetically enhanced players and then removed one of the Cyberpapal stelae in New England, returning the area to Core Earth reality.

Fujiwara is currently the bearer of the Sword Reforged, sometimes known as Excalibur, among other names, (including Kusanagi) which he was granted by Dunad, who revealed to him that he is of the Imperial bloodline.

By using Kusanagi in a duel to save the Emperor of Japan, he revealed his Imperial Blood, and was officially adopted into the Imperial House and named Crown Prince (replacing Naruhito, who had betrayed the Emperor and Japan, and who committed seppuku).

Fujiwara is a Hero Of The Commonwealth Of Independent States, an Extra Knight Of The Bath, and has been awarded the Order Of St. George The Martyr by Russia.

Epilogue After the repulsion of the invaders, Fujiwara was eventually crowned Emperor of Japan, marrying Katrina.
