Kathryn was a student of magic in Aysle. After the invasion of Earth, she discovered technology and was fascinated by it, especially the idea of combining it with magic, a concept rejected by her teachers. When reports of a strange new magic emerged from Los Angeles, she went there to seek it out.
Unfortunately for Katheryn, the new magic was the occultech of Tharkold.
She was transformed by an reality storm invoked on the technodemon Sterrekh,
and was fortunate enough to escape. Later she learned that the attempted
invasion had been foiled by Fugitive Group C, who also were friends with
Mara-24, probably the greatest expert on
Tharkold and its technology.
She decided to visit Fugitive Group C and ended up joining them.
She is an accomplished mage and has a small amount of cyberware.
While in Hong Kong with the group, she started noticing hints at something
mysterious in her background, culminating with Ambrose that she was the rightful head
of House Tharend, a revelation that thoroughly surprised her.
She converted to the faith of Dunad following a miraculous healing at the
hands of Chrome. Deciding that as the head of
House Tharend, she really needed to be Ayslish, she and Chrome both petitioned
Dunad to transform them, which he did at the culmination of a massive ceremony.
Shortly after this, she took the group to Tharend Manor, where she challenged
Gerrik Tharend, usurper of the House. Killing him, she claimed the Seal
of House Tharend and then became the nominal leader of a multi-House force
responding to an ultimatum of Simon Carr's.
