Aikido

Aikido is a Japanese style based on using an opponent's energy against them, while focussing one's own energy.

Prerequisites

To learn Aikido, a character must have at least one add in Meditation and Scholar.

Disciplines

Block/Strike: With this maneuver, the character may block a MA-style attack (One using Martial Arts, Missile Weapons, Melee Weapons, or Unarmed Combat) and also attack. Unlike a Multi-Action, two separate die rolls are made. The Block has a DN of the target's attack skill, and if successful, blocks that attack. The Strike is a standard Martial Arts Strike. In flurry rounds, 1 Block and 2 Strikes are made.

  1. Disarm: This maneuver redirects the target's strength back against him, bending his arm back and forcing him to drop any handheld weapons. It does Target's STR+2 damage.

  2. Feint: This maneuver allows the character to make a Trick roll using their Martial Arts skill. It may not be combined with attacks or active defense. If successful, the character will go before their opponent in the next round, regardless of initiative.

  3. Shout Of Warning: This maneuver allows the character to use their Martial Arts skill for an Intimidation attempt.

  4. Throw: Identical to a drop kick except that the character is not Knocked Down.

  5. Detect Lie: +4 to Mind or Willpower to resist deception-based Persuasion.

  6. Flashback: If the character makes a Meditation roll (DN determined by the situation), then they get the benefit of an Idea card, or a bonus against their particular opponent.

  7. Power Shout: Costing two possibilities, this is like Spirit Shout except that the +3s turn into +5s, and it attacks everyone in front of the character (max range 15 m).
