Martial Arts is an advanced form of personal combat: unarmed, melee, or missile. As such, it may be used in place of any of those skills (and it may be used in place of Dodge versus Missile attacks).
Martial Arts may be used to launch an unarmed attack. This attack is called a Strike and does STR+2 damage. In any contest between someone using Martial Arts and someone using one of the other skills, the Martial Artist gains +1 to their DEX.
The first add in Martial Arts costs 3 adds at character creation. If purchased later, it costs triple what it otherwise would.
When Martial Arts is first purchased, a Style must be selected. This Style dictates what Disciplines may be learned. Any given Style typically has six Minor Disciplines, 2 Major Disciplines and 1 Master Discipline. Prior to beginning play, a character may have 1 Discipline per add for free, and may buy that many more for 1 Possibility each. During play, 1 new Discipline may be learned for each new add gained.
Disciplines must be learned in the order they are listed in the Style. All Disciplines in a given Style must be learned before a new Style is learned.
Martial Arts is spiritual and conceptual. It requires a Spirit Axiom of 7 and a Social Axiom of 21.
Any Martial Artist may challenge any other Martial Artist to a duel. The duel may be declared as to the death, to KO or surrender, or other conclusion. This challenge must be accepted, at cost of losing all Martial Arts abilities. This battle must be fought without outside assistance (including card-trading), at the same cost. The winner may ask a boon of the loser.
