Compelled by JF8, GE sets up a meeting with informants that turns out to be an ambush. Fujiwara and Holmes get taken out, but are rescued by Osato, who wants to be the only one who gets to kill Holmes. Osato maims Holmes some more.
From information learned in the ambush, the group decided that the Signal Fire (alluded to by the tiles in the Cave Of The Destiny Map) is being carried on the Orient Express. They make their way to Free Belgium.
On the train, they meet lots of folks: Sid and Iris Mendelbaum, secret CyberPapal agents; Cyranno, a voodoo houngan; Colonel Ondarev and Katrina Rostov, of the Soviet Psychic Research Group; and Horace Blessed, a conman who has been set up by the CyberPapacy to trick the group.
While trying to acquire the Signal Fire, Mike has his soul and mind ripped away from him and trapped in the GodNet. After a big fight, the group learns that the Signal Fire isn't here and it's all a trick. They leave the train, put Mike's empty body in a hospital and head for Tibet, where they hope the Signal Fire will be.
In Tibet, they hire some local guides and go hiking through the mountains, and are attacked by a Nile blimp. Finally, they find the Forever City, a bizarre ancient city. Finding several oddities in the abandoned buildings, they eventually locate the Signal Fire and are attacked by the waiting Victor Kingman. But Victor is not alone: he has brought all of the friends and acquaintances who died fighting him, raised as zombies.
After a massive battle, including the martyrdom (again) of Isa, Victor is 'killed', and the Signal Fire is lit. A message is sent out into the void, with unknowable results. Many people around the world are inspired to become Storm Knights, and the group is shown a vision of a ravagon attacking Toshi Ito, a small child in Spain.
Holmes uses the power of the Signal Fire to transport himself to the scene. Appearing out of thin air, Holmes slays the ravagon. The others follow. Toshi decides to follow the group for a while. Uneasy with bringing a child along, the group decides to avoid danger for a while.
