The party recovers the item and flees, but
Malekith
appears and a huge battle is fought with a fifth-planting gospog.
After defeating it and some assorted troops, the group escapes.
Glory: Having just dispatched the fifth-planting gospog with
a letter-opener to the brain,
Mike
turns to an approaching battalion of giants, and manages to intimidate them
into fleeing.

The group returns to Germany and gives
Jack Blue
the Metal Knowledge Stone and Earth Knowledge Stone which they recovered
from Malekith's castle. Using them, Jack uses magic to cure
Toshi, turning his
artificial tendons into living metal tendons, so that they will
grow with him.

A gravely damaged
Chrome
is taken just inside CyberFrance to a known,
safe cyberdoc for repairs and upgrade.

Completely overhauled and recovered from the surgery for the addition of
a new cyberarm and a jaw/voicebox replacement, Chrome returns to
Germany.

Fujiwara
returns from Russia, in a desperate hurry. On his urgings,
Chrome and Cross
join him on an urgent flight to Kenya to tray to find
Kristina before
Thalchek finds her.
Meanwhile, in Kenya, Katrina and others flee before Thalchek's arrival.

Thalchek arrives in Kenya and destroys Project Omen, the base of a
group of Russian psychics.
The party arrives in Kenya a few hours later. After experiencing a
psychically induced flashback, they figure out that Katrina and Thalchek
both headed north into the Nile Empire. They follow, discovering a
trail of corpses left behind by Thalchek.

The party deals with some gospog and discovers a cave complex. In the
caves, they find an incredibly deep pit, with a weird science 'elevator
ray'. They descend.

The party reaches the bottom of the pit, finding an underground world:
The Land Below. They are surprised by a group of Nile Shocktroopers.
They quickly dispatch the Shocktroopers and free their prisoner, an elf
named Ta'eesh.

Joined by Ta'eesh, the group meets the Ohibi tribe and a man who identifies
himself as a Guatemalan named
Mintaka.
Mintaka joins them, and they set out again.

Discovering that they are being followed by Nile troops, the group
heads for the mountains so that they can find a defensible position.
When the troops catch up to them, they turn out to be led by
Professor Sharif,
with a Weird Science Powered Armor Suit, complete with solar cannon.
During the ensuing battle, Mintaka sacrifices himself to help defeat
Sharif. In the end, Mike disables Sharif's suit's gyros and he falls
off a cliff. The solar cannon is salvaged, however.
