Campaign Timeline

May 1993

5/1/93
All over the world, things begin to go wrong. Cyberpapacy: In France, technology fails and mysterious priests begin preaching the coming of a new Pope.

Aysle: Technology fails throughout the British Isles and Scandanavia and armies that include dwarves, elves, and monsters invade.

The Living Land: Everything fails in three separate regions of the U.S., and invading dinosaurs come down three maelstrom bridges: one in Canada's wilderness, another in Sacramento, and another in Shea Stadium, New York City.

Orrorsh: Communications are lost with most of Indonesia, and reports of very strange things begin to seep out by word of mouth.

In the US, Susan Weissman is caught in a reality storm. After being struck by lightning, she falls unconscious and is taken to the hospital.

President Clinton, Vice-President Gore, and most of Congress are reported lost in the primitive reality of the Living Land.

5/2/93
Victorian Royal Army crosses their Bridge into Indonesia. Lon Chaney accompanies them.

5/3/93
The Nile Empire: Dr. Mobius invades the Middle East. The possibility surge is diluted enough to be survivable. Huge tracts of land begin to fall quickly.

Lloyd Bentsen is named acting President by a hastily convened acting Congress. He quickly names Dennis Quartermain as Vice-President and assembles an acting Cabinet etc.

5/4/93
Edeinos forces are driven back from Silicon Valley.

Susan Weissman awakens from her coma...now Isa of House Tharend.

Realizing what must be done, Mike Robinson, sometimes known as Black Lightning, leaves Mobius' service and begins his fight, first catching a flight to the US.

Lon Chaney deserts the Royal Army thanks to his...condition.

5/5/93
Scientists around the world note that the Earth's rotation is slowing down.

President Bentsen announces the formation of the Delphi Council to oversee the provisional government and organize resistance. The center of US government is officially temporarily relocated to Houston, Texas.

Arriving in the U.S., Black Lightning begins looking for a way to help, and makes his way inland, towards the Living Land.

In France, the Inquisition comes for Sparks, a mechanic whose car and modern equipment haven't transformed yet, accusing him of being a witch. He fights them off.

Isa Tharend visits Susan Weissman's apartment, finding a suit of armor and sword which have apparently been left there for her.

5/6/93
Angar Uthorion, posessing the body of Pella Ardinay , comes to Earth to oversee the invasion. Upon setting foot on Earth, he/she triggers an ancient spell, laid centuries before when magic was still strong on Earth. This spell sets powerful forces in motion and expels Uthorion from Ardinay's body, but Uthorion disrupts the spell before it can finish doing whatever it was intended to do. Uthotion manages to posess the body of Thorfinn Bjanni, a Viking leader.

Now free of Uthorion's control, Lady Ardinay calls for a halt to the fighting, and an end to the invasion. As Bjanni, Uthorion rebels, and Aysle is split by civil war.

Alexandra Chang, Black Lightning, and Isa head into the Living Land on a mission of mercy, delivering supplies.

5/7/93
The Earth's rotation is completely stopped.

The group (Alexandra, Mike, and Isa) rescue Hildy Marlen from some edeinos, assisted by the renegade edeinos H'hodaraak Phaa, who joins them.

The group then proceeds to rescue Hildy's father, Doktor Wilhelm Marlen, from some Nile shocktroopers. After fighting the shocktroopers and defeating Professor Emil Sharif, they capture a Faberge egg from some edeinos and steal Sharif's Digging Machine.

5/8/93
Arriving in the Nile Empire, the group (now 6 strong) fight their way through a Nile airbase, picking up Grimbeard, a dwarf who knew Isa in their Ayslish days. They steal a seaplane, and though they are chased by fighters, escape.

Alexandra Chang flies the plane to a spot near Christmas Island, in Orrorsh, where they battle their way through a demon (eventually bribing it with the Faberge egg) and animated skeletons before Mike manages to reverse the machine which had stolen the Earth's rotational energy, restarting the Earth's spin.

5/9/93
The group (all 7 of them) manage to fly their damaged plane as far as Christmas Island before shifting realities cause it to crash, breaking Dr. Marlen's arm. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Marlen is kidnapped by an unseen creature.

Lady Ardinay announces the formation of the Home Guard, intended to defend against the dark forces of Bjanni/Uthorion.

5/10/93
The group tracks and kills the octopoid creature which had kidnapped Dr. Marlen, but there is no sign of Marlen himself. After making contact with the natives, the group heads for the governor's mansion on the far side of the island. There, they have a battle with gospog, winning even though Hildy Marlen is killed.

Investigating the mansion, the group finds strange, unholy machinery which is apparently draining the life from the people attached to it, including a native named Mabwe and Dr. Marlen. Attempting to free the prisoners, the group is confronted by Victor Kingman.

A very extended battle follows. During the battle, Alexandra Chang, Grimbeard the dwarf, and Mabwe are all killed. In the end, Kingman is wounded thanks to some lightly enchanted blades the group has, and escapes even as the mansion collapses. Phaa, Mike, and Isa escape, but Dr. Marlen dies in the collapse.
Glory: H'hodaraak smashes Kingman so hard he nearly goes through the stone wall.

5/11/93
The group rests on Christmas Island, trying to recover from the stress of the battle. Telling the story of their battle, they plant a glory seed.

A group of three Home Guards is sent to Loch Ness to investigate reports of a dragon or sea serpent there.

5/12/93
Bruce Springsteen, who had apparently been a prized prisoner of the edeinos because of his status as a 'storyteller', smashes a tanker truck full of gasoline into the base of the Sacramento maelstrom bridge and destroys it at the cost of his life.

5/13/93
Advanced technology begins to work again in France. Moreover, many people suddenly begin having inspirations about new technology they can develop. Jean Malraux descends the Maelstrom bridge and announces the establishment of the Cyberpapacy.

5/14/93
The group flies a helicopter to Darwin, Australia. After getting through customs, they camp off the side of a road.

As refugees pour into Los Angeles, the LA Raiders announce they are moving their training camp to Florida.

5/15/93
The party encounters Dr. Cornelius Frest, one of the Mystery Men. An old companion of the original Black Lightning, he arranges for the group's transportation to England.

Strangeness in Russia, as an attempted invasion is foiled by the Soviet Psychics.

5/16/93
The group flies to England. While flying along the boundary of Orrorsh, a reality storm strikes the plane, turning the copilot into a monster and animating various pieces of the plane. The group defeats the various menaces.

5/17/93
The group arrives in England. They head for Oxford.

5/18/93
US President Bentsen is assasinated, apparently by a human 'Jakatt' (follower of Lanala, goddess of the Living Land). Vice-President Quartermain takes the presidency and names Ron Brown as Vice-President.

5/19/93
The party arrives in Oxford. They learn of odd doings around Loch Ness and the Tower Hill Monastery. Investigating the suit of armor and sword that were sent to Susan Weissman's apartment, they learn that Isa's benefactor is named Ambrose and lives in Salisbury.

5/21/92
The group arrives in Salisbury, but too late at night to do anything.

5/22/93
The party finds evidence that suggests that Ambrose may have had problems with trolls. They head north to investigate Tower Hill Monastery and Loch Ness.

5/24/93
Sparks escapes from CyberFrance, just ahead of the cybernetically-enhanced Inquisition. After being extensively debriefed by the local military, he decides to wander Europe, looking for something to do that will help in the current struggle.

5/25/93
The party investigates Tower Hill Monastery and discovers that it is infested with skeletons and a sorceror. They kill them all, and burn the bodies of what seem to be growing gospog.

5/28/93
The party arrives in the vicinity of Loch Ness and discover what looks to be a very nasty gathering army of trolls and such.

5/29/93
The party invades Urquhart Castle, apparent headquarters of the dark army. They kill the leader, Gunnbjorn, and the sorceress Sarella, and then free Ambrose, who was a captive in the dungeon.

5/31/93
Disturbed by the changes that have swept Japan, Toshi Ito, a young martial arts prodigy, and his grandfather leave the country, looking for a better place to live.
