Sparks and his companions reach Paris, where they learn that the 'resistance
conference' is actually more like a series of parties and balls.

At the first night of the conference, Sparks runs into a wide variety of
problems, including discovering Wu Han stealing the Egyptian Art exhibit
from the Louvre.

The second night of the conference turns out to be a masquerade.
A huge battle ensues, resulting in the driving off of an attack
by Wu Han and several spider-puppets.

The rescue of the Amazons is more or less complete. The group decides to
investigate General Maldonado of the Mexican government and discovers that
he is a Weird Science automaton. Destroying him and capturing Sergeant
Hassan, they discover that governments around the world have been infiltrated
by these robots, allowing Mobius to expand his empire almost without
opposition.
The Paris conference concludes, allowing Sparks and Marie to take some
time for healing.

The group travels to Washington D.C., where they meet up with the chief
resisting tribes. They are attacked by Mogaba Nar, the new High Lord of
the Land, who kills Baruk Kaah and leaves. They discover that the leader
of one of the resisting tribes is actually a transformed Al Gore.
Meanwhile, the US Army mounts a major expedition into the area of the Land
near Chicago.

Sparks and Marie set out for Aysle.

-
The group travels to New York. After a massive battle, they succeed in
gating Rec Pakken to join Huitzilpochtili underneath Teotihuacan. Mogaba
Nar is mortally wounded and flees. The group returns to DC and transports
most of the refugees there to Teotihuacan, including Gore.
At roughly the same time, Mogaba's forces spring an ambush on the US Army,
even as Mobius invades Texas, catching the US in a two-front war.

The group returns to Teotihuacan and transforms Gore back to Core Earth
reality. They begin planning a major operation to kick Mobius out of
Texas.
Meanwhile, a Spartan team pulls a Land stela, throwing Mogaba's forces into
disarray. Instead of pursuing them, the Army heads south as quickly as
possible, to try and prevent any possible expansion of Mobius.

Sparks and Marie reach Belgium and catch a boat to Cornwall.

The group contacts President Salinas of Mexico and General Shalikashvili
of the US Army, letting them know Gore is alive and in Teotihuacan.
It is decided that a joint operation will take place, with cooperation
between US and Mexican forces to kick Mobius out. FGC will supply some
auxiliary forces in the form of the Expatriates and will perform the crucial
task of yanking the key Nile stela.

Sparks and Marie reach Oxford and arrange for Marie's transformation to the
Aysle reality.

Marie suffers from incredibly severe withdrawal symptoms. Sparks seeks
aid from Talbot Whimsey.

An alchemist identifies Marie's difficulties as being due to her having
been addicted to both 'normal' drugs and the 'potion drugs' developed by the
alchemist Carolus, who works for Don Pyrus. Because Carolus is the only one
who knows exactly how his potions work, Sparks is told he'll need to find
Carolus if he wants to help Marie.

With a somewhat weakened Marie accompanying him, Sparks heads for Avignon,
where he expects to find Carolus.

The group scouts the location of the key Nile Stela, just southwest of
Austin.
Meanwhile, Sparks and Marie arrive in Marseilles and meet Henri, a smuggler.
