Just Who Is This Doug Dawson, Anyway?

Places I've Lived

Education

Grissom High School
Located in Huntsville. Grissom is named after Virgil I Grissom, one of the astronauts who died in the Apollo 1 fire. I was in the Class of 1987, and was a member of the Grissom Marching Band through my Junior year.
Rice University
Located in Houston. Rice U. was founded by William Marsh Rice. I was a member of Will Rice College . I graduated in 1991 with a B.A., majoring in Physics , with an option in Space Physics and Astronomy.
University of Arizona
Located in Tucson. I was in the Planetary Science doctoral program here, in the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory (LPL). I entered this program in 1991, and completed it in 1998.

Employment

Arizona Western College
Located in Yuma, this was my first true, full-time job. I was Professor of Physics and Astronomy for the 1998-1999 and 1999-2000 academic years. I had a good time there, but I missed Tucson.

Cassini ISS
Returning to Tucson, I joined the staff of CICLOPS, the Cassini Imaging Central Laboratory for Operations. After about a year, CICLOPS moved to Boulder, but I remained at LPL working for another Imaging scientist, Alfred McEwen. This is where I work now, doing observation designs.
