Hockey Cirque
Warning - these pictures may only appeal to geologists! Our snow days gave us the chance to do some other things besides hunt for
meteorites. A few of us, Oz, Mike Kelley, Mike Rampey, and I took a day to
really explore the big granite body exposed in Hockey Cirque. We were
particularly interested in how the magma interacted with the country rocks,
mostly black schists, so we collected some samples and may return to study it in
more detail. We felt a little like astronauts, walking around in big, heavy
clothes that restricted our movements, and goggles and hats that felt like
helmets, while trying to do geology!
