The city of Dubai is a collision of contrasts - tall skyscrapers next to flat desert, opulent malls next to humble spice souks. In my short time there, I got to experience many of these. Because my hotel (Sheraton Four Points Bur Dubai) was close to the river and souks, I got to spend time walking through the mostly Indian-run markets and the old Persian city Bastakiya, during day and night. We drove down the main drag, through giant skyscraper canyons, and we took a night to wander through the Dubai Mall and watch the fountain show in front of the impossibly high and beautiful Burj Khalifa.
Part of the lovely FOUNTAIN SHOW at the Burj Khalifa.
