Thanks to expert flight instructor and planetary scientist Kevin Baines, I was able to fly over Death Valley with Kevin and Ralph Lorenz on June 10, 2009. Kevin took us up in his fancy Cirrus aircraft with all glass everything, flying from El Monte airport in Southern Cal across the Mojave Desert to Death Valley. In my favorites (see below), you'll see the cockpit playground, feeder system to the giant alluvial fan west of Stovepipe Wells, a nice, whole-valley view of Racetrack Playa, and detail in the main Death Valley playa. Other highlights are some egregious self-photos, a view of Cima volcanic field, and some odd patterns near farm fields (last pic).
