Hamblin Global Geology field trip 2012

April 2012 found the BYU geological sciences graduate and undergraduate student participants in Hawaii for the annual Hamblin Global Geology field trip. This trip was focused on petrology, geochemistry, and volcanology of the Hawaiian islands. We visited Kilauea, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and the resurgent volcanics of Oahu. That didn't stop us from visiting beaches, though, especially because the green and black sand beaches are particularly interesting from a petrology perspective. Despite the rain, we had a fantastic trip.
