Turkey 3/28
After breakfast we drove to the Antalya
Archaeology Museum. Here we saw artifacts from Perge as well
as other sites in the Lycean peninsula.
Later we drove to the waterfalls of Kursunlu. After viewing the falls, we had a snack of
traditional Turkish bread, called gozleme – Wonderful! Next we drove by a bridge over the Aspendos River that was built in 1100 AD by
Selcuk Turks. We had lunch near the
river and later I took a picture of a lady spinning wool in the traditional
way. Then we drove by a Roman
aqueduct on the way to the theater of Aspendos. The theater was used as an inn (Kervan
saray) by the Selcuk Turks so it is in great condition. Performances are still held there every
summer. We finally arrived at our
hotel (Ardisia) near the place we planned to observe the total eclipse.
