Day 3: Clear Creek to Bright Angel Campground

Since the Clear Creek Trail is south-facing and has very little shade during most of the day, I set my alarm for 4 am and was on the trail at sunrise, hoping to make it back to Bright Angel Campground before it got ridiculously hot. watching the sun come up over the Canyon was pretty awesome, and once I reached the main part of the Canyon I had what may be the best view I've ever seen of the place (panoramas below). After 9 miles, I got to Bright Angel Campgrounds around 10:30 and it was 95 degrees in the shade by that point. I found a nice campsite with some shade and tried to nap, but it was so hot that I met with limited success. By 2 pm, the official shade temperature reading said 103, so I decided to spend the next hour immersed in Bright Angel Creek, staring up at the Canyon around me!
