Day 4: Out via the Bright Angel Trail

Again I woke at 4 am, hoping to beat the heat as much as possible, and took off at sunrise up the Bright Angel Trail, which is 9.6 miles long with about 4400 feet of elevation gain to get to the rim. Much of the early part of the hike was in the shade, which was nice, and there's water spigots 1.5, 3, and 5 miles below the rim, so it was nice to not have to carry much uphill! I made it up around 11:30, changed out of my stinky hiking clothes, and had a huge bowl of ice cream at Bright Angel Lodge on the patio overlooking the Canyon!
