London and Cambridge, UK
September 2005

Description

The annual DPS meeting was in Cambridge this year, so I took some time to explore the town and took a few days in London as well. I was expecting standard English weather (ie. bad), but it was quite nice for almost the entire trip.

First the London photos. Here's the 'London Eye,' which was one of the first things I did in London. The view was pretty nice.

The parliament building. Unfortunately, all photos taken towards the west came out badly because of reflections off the windows.

One day, a few of us rented one of the flat-bottomed 'punt' boats and gave it a try. Here's Henry Throop and company taking off just ahead of our boat. Nobody in his boat or our boat fell in, but there were a few close calls. Fortunately, the boats are really stable. The main thing to remember is that if the pole gets stuck in the river bottom, let go!
