Tucson to Southern New Mexico
April 10-11, 2010

Description

I flew out to Southern New Mexico with Rick Greenberg (the pilot) and Dyer Lytle to help with aerial surveillance and photography for the Spring 2010 LPL field trip. We flew from Tucson through Reddington Pass over the San Pedro Valley, then roughly followed Interstate 10 past Willcox, landing for a bit in Deming, NM. From there we flew over the fieldtrippers while they were looking the Afton lava flows near Aden crater, and on past Kilbourne Hole. We then landed at Dona Ana Airport just west of El Paso. Next, we flew over them again while they were exploring Aden Crater itself, then landed in Las Cruces, NM where they met us. We camped with them for the night, exploring Kilbourne Hole in the morning, and flew back to Tucson the next day.

On the ground at Dona Ana airport west of El Paso. There's a small museum there, which was closed by the time we got to it, but plenty of stuff to look at outside
