Looking back at Nice from Antibes. You can see the observatory towards the right.

People playing petanque, which seems to be the national sport in this part of France. I'm not positive, but I think you have to be old to play.

There was a big snowstorm on Jan. 24th, and this is from the following day on my way to the observatory. According to co-workers, significant snowfall at the observatory, which is only at 1000' elevation, has happened only a few times in the last decade (it proceeded to happen again on the 28th). There were only flurries in the city itself.

The entrance to the observatory. Notice the snow-capped palm trees.

My building, with snow-covered mountians in the background.

Shot of the Port of Nice from Mt. Boron, just east of the city.

Large
The fort on Mt. Alban, just east of the city. Given its fort-like position, this was the best shot I could get of it. The other side is neater.

Large
The front door. Even though the drawbridge was down, the door was locked.

A football (ie. soccer) field down below. Even the fields in Tucson had more grass than most of the ones here.

Another gratuitous observatory shot.

For some reason, there are a bunch of goats in a park that I passed on the way back home from Mt. Alban.
