My research has concentrated mostly on astrophysical fluid dynamics and MHD. I have done projects on turbulent scaling relations, penetrative convection, gravity wave generation, propagation and diffusion and more recently I have been looking at the effect of convective overshoot on the confinement of magnetic field to the solar radiation zone. Most of this research has been applied to the Sun in the hope of a better understanding of the solar dynamo. Below there are some images, movies and links to papers on this research. Turbulent Scaling Relations: Comparing the Nusselt-Rayleigh scaling found in these anelastic numerical simulations to experimental results.

Self Consistent simulations of gravity wave generation in a realistic solar model.

Wave Driven Flows in a highly idealized model of the solar interior. Note that these models simplified compared to the behaviour in the Sun and are likely not indicative of wave dynamics in the Sun; see text of paper.
