Tarunika Ramprasad
Tarunika Ramprasad

Tarunika is a PhD candidate at the UA Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) Department. She was born and raised in Chennai, India. She got her undergraduate degree in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering for the National Institute of Technology, Trichy. Her bachelor's thesis focused on improving the surface properties of titanium alloys used in hip-implants, to improve bio-compatibility and increase implant lifetime. Her research interests are primarily in cosmochemistry, and the origin and early history of the solar system. Tarunika's graduate work focuses on using state-of-the-art electron microscopy techniques to study mineral assemblages from calcium-aluminum-rich inclusions (CAIs) and using their structures and chemical compositions to understand processes that occurred in the solar protoplanetary disk.
