PTYS Fall 2022 Textbook Order Form

Instructors, before you submit your required request, check with the UA library to see if they’re freely available to students as ebooks. The library buys unlimited-user ebook licenses for required course textbooks whenever possible. If an unlimited-user license isn’t available from publishers (which is unfortunately often the case), the library can help you explore free/low-cost alternatives.

If you're an instructor and you submit your required course materials through the UA BookStores' textbook adoption process on time, the library will automatically check for an unlimited-user ebook version of your required textbook(s). UA Library purchases these whenever they're available. Unfortunately, ebook licensing works differently for academic libraries than it does for individual purchases. Publishers don't make most titles available to us as unlimited-user ebooks for course use. Instructors can check for ebook availability from the library before adopting a particular textbook.

It's very important for instructors to submit required textbooks through the UA BookStores' textbook adoption process each term, even if the ebook is available for free student use through the library (instructors should add a note about library ebook availability when submitting the textbook adoption form—this helps the BookStores avoid buying too many copies) and also allows for the book to be listed in D2L; students can check the booklist on the UA BookStores' website (for each textbook, select Check UA Library for ebook ») and can also look in the Library Tools on their D2L Brightspace course sites. Course ebooks will be featured in the upper right corner.

Instructors may want to consider Inclusive Access textbook option:
  • Materials must be REQUIRED for course
  • Professor actively engages students with the digital content during the “free” period.
  • “Free” period ends on the last day to drop the class without a W.
  • Students must opt out if they don’t want the material.
  • Prices are negotiated to be lower than the student can find in the general marketplace.
  • Textbook is billed to the student’s Bursar account.
  • Request D2L page for the course immediately.
