Members' Telephone & E-Mail Directory

PLEASE contact your partner a day or two in advance of your games. Be sure to discuss when & where to meet, what shirts will be worn, and at which school the game is to be played. A telephone call is best, but an email a few days in advance works, too. This is especially important for out-of-town games. Members' Directory

Approved Bats for 2001:

NFHS rules regarding what consitutes a legal bat (Rule 1, Article 5; page 14) are still tied to the ASA Standard. “All bats shall meet the ASA bat performance standard and such bats shall either be labelled with the ASA approved certification mark, or be listed on the ASA website (www.softball.org/Approved/battesting.html).

This from Mike Bouchard:

I have an appointment with Sheila Baise, AD for the entire Tucson Unified School District, on April 19, 2001 to discuss the untimely payment of softball officials and make a recommendation on how to remedy the situation.

She has asked me to bring examples of game date, when payment was made, etc.   In this regard, please complete the attached form(in MS Excel) and return it to me by 4/17 via e-mail.  Completion is self explanatory.  Use date of check for date paid.  If you are unable to download form, the format is listed below:

Officials      Game                      Payment     Date      # of Days
Name          Date           Site      Open          Paid      to Payment

This will help us make our case.

Arizona Youth Softball (Louie Gonzales' JO League) now has a rudimentary website. Not much is there as of this writing, other than the League Rules and their Tournament Schedule, but this may change in the future.

Here is a link to Emily Alexander's AIA homepage (Phoenix, or Region II). The approved 2002 Rule changes can be found there. Also, the fee for Varsity games will be $35.

The History of the Game

How infield geometry has evolved. Read Jay Miner's article from the February, 2001 issue of    magazine.

Do you know the origins of our game (and baseball)? Read about the game of Townball.

Do you know the origins of umpires' hand signals? The answer may surprise you, Dummy!

   Duh...how do I do that?

“http://www.lpl.arizona.edu/~umpire/softball/aiasoftball.html” each and every time you want to visit this site.
In which case, your sanity is already gone. My money says most of youse mugs can't remember “http://www.lpl.arizona.edu/~umpire/softball/aiasoftball.html,” much less type it correctly on the first try.
