At the end of the fall semester, the Department of Planetary Sciences gets together for a year-end Holiday Party. Typically this is held during the afternoon of "Dead Day", i.e. the day before the final exam period begins. The party traditionally consists of a lunch buffet and desserts, mingling, an appearance by Santa and his elves (read: prize raffle), and finally the infamous faculty, postdoc, and graduate student skits.
Bob Marcialis was known to make a brew of eggnog so potent that it came with its own warning label. The recipe has been archived here for anyone who misses the good ol' days of frothy eggnog at the end of holiday party.
