Juan Sanchez

Postdoctoral Associate Research Scientist

Juan is an Associate Research Scientist at the Planetary Science Institute (PSI). His research focuses on compositional characterization of asteroids and their relationship to meteorites found on Earth. This work involves the use of ground-based telescopes to obtain near-infrared spectra of asteroids and the analysis of meteorite samples. As a co-investigator of the Rogue Object Characterization Survey (ROCS), He is in charge of conducting observations of small near-Earth asteroids with NASA’s Infrared Telescope Facility (IRTF). The goal of this study is to physically characterize a large sample of these objects to constrain their surface composition, rotation state, albedo and size.
