Leif Andersson Award for Service and Outreach

The Andersson Award recognizes attention to broader impacts and involvement in activities outside of academic responsibilities that benefit the department, university and the larger community. For example, this student may represent graduate student interests on councils or committees, organize graduate student events, assist departmental recruitment, participate in K-12 outreach, etc.

How to Apply:

Award announcement is made in the spring; application deadline is typically early March. Nominations and supporting letters may come from faculty, staff, and students at LPL or other departments, as well as from members of the community and other organizations. Self-nominations are accepted.

Award Eligibility:

Graduate students in the Department of Planetary Sciences are eligible for the Andersson Award.

Deadline:

Typically early March.

Award amounts & Award process:

The award is given annually and includes a $1,000 prize. Recipients are selected the Department Head and Director. 

Application materials will include:

  • Student CV/Resume
  • At least one letter of recommendation (letters can be submitted directly by writers, if preferred)
