NASA's Mars Perseverance rover will try to generate oxygen on the Red Planet for the first time. If successful, the experiment could pave the way for humans to make a round-trip journey to Mars. University of Arizona planetary scientist Peter Smith describes the discoveries researchers expect from the Perseverance mission.

Peter Smith spoke with Tim Swindle, director of the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory at the University of Arizona.
