The University of Arizona Graduate College is pleased to announce that the University of Arizona has teamed up with CONACyT, the Mexican Council for Science and Technology (equivalent to the US National Science Foundation) in order to provide a new source of funding for Mexican graduate students. This web page contains important information related to this partnership and how students can apply to participate.
This new program will provide co-financed, 5-year fellowships to 100 doctoral students, supplying students with a monthly living stipend and covering registration fees and medical insurance.

How to Apply:
In order to participate in this program, students must:
- Apply for admission to the University of Arizona Graduate College as well as an application to the graduate program of interest at the University of Arizona (refer to the current list of UA Programs of Study if you have not already decided on a program). The Program Descriptions found on these pages contain lists of Faculty members and contact information for Program Coordinators and Graduate Advisors, who can be very helpful in answering questions you might have about their programs. Graduate Admissions has further information, including instructions on how to complete your application.
Please pay special attention to the admission requirements of the programs that interest you; they often include the TOEFL and GRE exams, letters of recommendation, essays describing your interests and career goals, official academic transcripts, etc. It is also of utmost importance that all required materials are sent to the program of interest and/or to the Graduate College by the program's deadline. The Graduate College deadline for international students (December 1) will not apply to Mexican students this year (2005). We also recommend that in your Application for Admission, under the section that requires you to show that you have the economic means to attend graduate school, you write "Applying for CONACyT support".
- Next, you should review the information about the UA-CONACYT partnership on the CONACyT web site and gather all of the necessary documents.
- Once the University of Arizona has acted on your Application for Admission and, if admitted, sent you a Certificate of Admission (around February or March) you will be ready to send all the required documents to CONACyT, according to the instructions on their website.
- University of Arizona classes begin around mid-August every year. Students may choose to live in La Aldea, a recently constructed housing complex exclusively for UA graduate students, or may seek off-campus housing in Tucson. For more information on housing, please contact the UA Housing Office.
