Women at LPL
The LPL Women's group provides a platform to socialize, network, discuss challenges encountered in careers in planetary science as well as equity issues and share information on opportunities and events focused on women in science. Our goal is to connect women working or studying at LPL from all career stages, from undergraduate and graduate students to postdocs, technical staff, faculty members or administrative staff. We meet several times per semester for lunch and maintain an e-mail list.
Though most members of this group identify as female, both our lunches and the e-mail list are open to people of any gender.
Lunch meetings form the heart of the LPL Women's group. We typically have one catered lunch per semester, which is paid for by the department, and several smaller bring-your-own-lunch meetings throughout the semester.
Catered Lunch with guest speaker Toni Saia from the Disability Resource Center

Theme: Disability Cultural Center: combatting ableism in higher education
The presentation will focus on how a disability cultural center can shift the narrative of disability on campus, by providing students, faculty and staff dedicated space to explore and celebrate disability identity, culture and community.
Most recent meeting:
Meeting with Dr. Kate Clancy
Tuesday, March 12, 11:00 am-12:00 pm
Come chat with colloquium speaker Kate Clancy who is well-known for her research on sexual harassment in sciences! This is an opportunity to ask her about her work and experience in a more informal setting than the colloquium.
Sign up for the Women @ LPL email list
We maintain an e-mail list to share information on equity and inclusion-related topics, events and opportunities focused on women in science as well as to announce future lunch meetings and other social activities.
